Ignite a New Love For the Old West

I’m really happy to have guests this week.  E.E. Burke is an award-winning author of sensual and sweet historical romances. Woven through with real history, her stories recapture a bygone era and resonate with enduring themes. E.E., also known as Elisabeth, has earned accolades in regional and national contests, including the RWA’s prestigious Golden Heart®. Over the years, she’s been a disc jockey, a journalist and an advertising executive, before finally getting around to living the dream–writing stories readers can get lost in. And boy do they ever! She can tell a story like nobody’s business. Besides all that, she’s a good friend. Elisabeth and eight other authors got together and are releasing an exciting boxed set entitled HEARTS ABLAZE.  This is a collection of Western historical romances by some of the best around, set during the autumn months and blazing with passion and adventure. You’re going to love this. I guarantee it. So sit back and get comfortable.

Hi Linda! Thanks for the big welcome and the chance to talk about an exciting publishing project.  When the eight of us first came together to work on this project, we quickly realized we had something very special–-a collection that represented the varied and vibrant tapestry of the Old American West.

From the wild Pacific forests to the lonesome prairies, on wagon trains and at frontier outposts, fall in love with lumberjacks and soldiers, trailblazers and trick riders, courageous warriors and rugged cowboys. For my part, I’m re-releasing an expanded version of my debut novella as part of this boxed set.

Kate’s Outlaw  is a suspenseful yarn about a half-breed desperado who abducts—and then rescues—a railroad heiress. On the run from danger, with enemies on both sides, Jake and Kate seek solace in each other’s arms…and ignite a love as powerful as it is forbidden.

Ignite a New Love For the Old West — 19 Comments

  1. Hello Linda & EE, and to all the great authors who contributed to this wonderful boxed set. It sounds like a fantastic journey.
My favorite characters of the old west I love to read are the half breed men who have to learn to live in 2 different worlds. Something about how they communicate with both the white men & Indians worlds are so romantic and intriguing. They always hold a special place in my heart & soul.

    • Hey Tonya! Thanks for dropping by! I know you’ve read Kate’s Outlaw some time back. My hero Jake doesn’t straddle two worlds as much as he tries to keep one from encroaching on the other. He’s forced to look for ways to build bridges when Kate, a rich white woman and heiress to the railroad he’s trying to stop, unexpectedly enters his life. I enjoyed exploring the different issues these two unique individuals faced.

    • Hi Tonya…..I’m glad to see you. I, too, am drawn to the outcasts who don’t fit in anywhere. It’s so sad and always tugs at my heartstrings. Maybe I’ll write more half breed heroes. Just for you.

      Love you, sister friend!

  2. due to other activities pulling me from the house, didn’t get a chance to get started on this set yet – but soon!!

      • Hi Teresa……I do hope you try these. They all sound very intriguing and perfect for a romance reader. I haven’t gotten them all read myself but I’m trying!

        Hugs, dear friend.

  3. Elisabeth, thanks so much for letting me host you. Sorry that I was buried today. That’s the bad thing about coming home from a trip. You know. You’ve been there. I have the boxed set on my Kindle but haven’t gotten to read a whole lot. I must remedy that!

  4. This collection sounds great! I really enjoy reading historical and contemporary western romances. I love the adventure and romance of the setting.

By the way, Linda, I am in the middle of TO LOVE A TEXAS RANGER, and it is such an enjoyable story. It has been exciting from the very first page.

    • Cheryl C……Thank you for stopping by to take a look at Hearts Ablaze. These ladies are all very good. Oh I’m so glad you’re enjoying To Love a Texas Ranger! That thrills me to no end. The Legend brothers really have a deep bond. Each one has suffered a great deal. These are the first characters I’ve written who have money. All my others have been as poor as church mice. At first I wasn’t sure if I could write about them but I quickly discovered that people from wealth have even more problems than the poor.

    • Thanks Cheryl for coming by. I agree with you about Linda’s wonderful book. It’s a page turner! Talk about exciting and romantic. I think I’m in love with these Legend brothers.

  5. What an amazing collaboration, Elisabeth! So glad to see you here on Linda’s Blog. These stories sound fascinating and all by such talented authors. I love the characters of the old West. I’m sure they saw themselves as regular people trying to survive like everyone else, but they were special. Bat Masterson, Buffalo Bill Cody, Doc Holliday and Wild Bill Hickock have always fascinated me. But, I have a special love for Indians and outlaws – Jesse James, Billy The Kid, Geronimo and Cole Younger are among my favorites. Best of luck to all of the authors involved in this project!

    • Hi Jan……thank you for coming. You and I really are drawn to the outlaws. I guess we got that from our daddy. He sure admired those men. And that’s the thing–they were just trying to survive the best way they could. Sometimes their methods were on the lawless side but for the most part they were honorable men just trying to get along.

      Love you, sister!

    • Thank you Jan! It’s been a blast to work on this collection. I’ve made some great new friends in the process. I hope you’ll give the set a try. I think you’ll like it!

  6. Well I have to say I love me some cowboys anyway they come. I can’t wait to read this box set sounds sooo good.

    • Hi Quilt Lady……Yep, we love our cowboys. There are none more dedicated and hard working. They crawl into the saddle before dawn and most times don’t fall out until after dark. Long days spent riding and doing their jobs. I know you’ll love this boxed set.

      Good luck in the drawing!

    • There’s just something about a cowboy, isn’t there! Thanks for stopping by, and I do hope you’ll try our set. All eight books, only 99 cents.
