USA Today Bestselling Author Shanna Hatfield writes character-driven romances with relatable heroes and heroines. Her historical westerns have been described as “reminiscent of the era captured by Bonanza and The Virginian” while her contemporary works have been called “laugh-out-loud funny, and a little heart-pumping sexy without being explicit in any way.”

Animals as Characters

Animals are so fun to incorporate into stories. They have such unique personalities, and they can get away with a lot of shenanigans.

That’s why I get such a kick out of adding animals into my sweet romances.

In my new release, The Christmas Vow (Hardman Holidays, Book 4), Adam Guthry returns home to bury his best friend and his past, never expecting to fall in love with Tia Devereux, the woman who destroyed his heart.

Tia and her four-year-old son Toby come to Hardman for her grandmother’s funeral and stay. She’s a widow trying to create a new life for her son, so she moves into her grandmother’s empty house.

A white cat named Crabby keeps watch over them. Although he likes children, he’s not fond of adults, until Adam comes along.

However, Crabby keeps Adam in line when it comes to Tia.

Christmas Vow 2

Here’s a fun little excerpt from the story:

Tia screamed when a weight dropped onto her shoulder and bounced off her lap, using Adam’s head for a springboard before speeding off in a blur of white.

Startled, Adam jumped to his feet, dumping Tia onto the floor as he frantically reached for the pistol he’d left on the other end of the table. Sudden realization that their attacker was only Crabby forced a growl out of his throat. He set the pistol back down and ran a hand through his hair.

“I swear, Tia, I’m going to find that cat and turn it into a pair of fuzzy mittens!” Adam’s chest heaved as he glanced around, frustrated and angry the cat had disturbed their amorous interlude.

Tia sat on the floor, watching the impressive form of Adam’s chest rise and fall as the situation went from frightening to entirely humorous.

The hand she clapped over her mouth did nothing to stifle her giggles.

New Releases

To kick off the second annual Cowboys and Christmas Blog Tour and the JCCF campaign, two brand new holiday romances will release Nov. 12!

Capturing Christmas CoverCapturing Christmas is the third installment in the sweet holiday western Rodeo Romance series.

Life is hectic on a good day for rodeo stock contractor Kash Kressley. Between dodging flying hooves and babying cranky bulls, he barely has time to sleep. The last thing Kash needs is the entanglement of a sweet romance, especially with a woman as full of fire and sass as the redheaded photographer he rescues at a rodeo.

Determined to capture the best images possible, rodeo photographer Celia McGraw is fearless and feisty. Not one to back down from a challenge, her biggest risk isn’t in her work. Danger lurks in the way her heart responds to one incredibly handsome stock contractor. Will Kash and Celia capture the spirit of the season?

  1. Hi Shanna…..I’m thrilled to do this blog tour with you. Always a pleasure to have you come. You have a passel of Christmas books and to add The Christmas Vow to the list makes this extra special! It sounds really good. I LOVE the sparks that happen when old flames meet again. Tons of conflict. I’ve got to get this.

Wishing you tons of success and happiness always!

  2. Hi Linda!
Thank you for the opportunity to gather ’round your fire today and share all this fun news with your readers. It is always, always such an honor to be your guest!
I’m excited for your upcoming releases, too!
Thanks again for hosting me, my dear friend!

    • The pleasure is all mine! I hope I can help spread the word about not only The Christmas Vow but each book in this wonderful series. Your stories are full of hope and love wrapped in the glow of Christmas.

  3. I love Shanna’s books. I wish her the best on her blog tour and efforts to raise funds for Awareness for JCCF. Also, Linda, that ornament is too cute!

    • Thanks, Robyn! I love Shanna’s books too. Glad you like the ornament. I was lucky to find them and I bought quite a few. I have your blog scheduled for Wednesday. I’ll send you the link when it posts.

      Wishing you the best!

  4. This sounds like a great thing to do, I will have to order a book, not sure which one to choose. Love the cats name. I have collected a kitten here lately and his name in nosy or Little man, depends on the mood we are in at the time. Oh Linda I love the boot ornament, it would love fabulous on my tree.

    • That is so fun about the kitten. They are nosy little critters, aren’t they? You could start with the Christmas Bargain – it’s the first book in the Hardman series and it is free for Kindle downloads today!

    • Hi Quilt Lady……I’m so glad you came! Shanna is right. It would probably be best to start with the first one, The Christmas Bargain. It was free today. So you’re a cat person. I never knew that in all the years I’ve known you. Kittens are so cute.

I’ve entered you in the drawing for the boot ornament. Good luck, my dear!

  5. Such a great FUND. I will look for some of her books to buy for this 🙂
My niece does rodeos and I know they can be dangerous.
Those books sound like good reads 🙂

    • Hi Brittany…..Thanks for coming. I’m so glad to see you. I agree about that wonderful fund that benefits injured rodeo cowboys. Wonderful about your niece. Do you ever go to watch her? I assume she’s a barrel racer. But maybe I’m wrong.

I’ve entered you in the drawing my dear!

    • Hi Brittany!
Thanks for stopping by – and for looking for some of my books. Hope you enjoy them. Heart of Clay is one that is free if you like contemporary sweet romances.
That is so fun about your niece – and they sure can be dangerous… but full of excitement, too!
      Have a great weekend!
